Abstract

Arabic language learning in schools often faces challenges, especially in developing speaking skills. Many students have difficulty understanding Arabic pronunciation. However, improvements have been made by the teacher using the Audiolingual method strategy. With this method, students can answer the teacher’s questions using correct Arabic speech. In addition, students also engage in more interactive and communicative conversations with their peers.This study aims to identify the inhibiting and supporting factors in the implementation of the Audiolingual method as well as to observe the development of speaking skills (maharah kalam). The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, and the type of research is a case study. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques involve data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that: (1) The implementation of the Audiolingual method to develop speaking skills in the 10th grade at MAN 2 Jombang was carried out through three main steps: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. (2) The inhibiting factors of the Audiolingual method include the relatively long time required during learning, the lack of support from peers, and students’ low self-confidence in speaking. The supporting factors include an energetic teacher during learning, interesting sentences spoken, and students being able to speak Arabic fluently with good and correct pronunciation.
