Abstract

Student comprehension is an important aspect in the learning process that is greatly influenced by the teaching methods used. One of the effective methods to improve student understanding is the Qashash (story) Method. This study aims to describe the steps, advantages, and disadvantages of applying the Qashash Method in Religion learning at SMP Negeri 6 Klaten and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Rembang. This study used a qualitative approach with the subject of religion teachers, and data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the application of the Qashash method includes six stages, namely material preparation, story delivery, message disclosure, reflection and application, material reinforcement, and evaluation. The advantages of this method include being able to attract students' attention, foster character, suitable for various ages, and improve language skills. However, the weaknesses are the risk of boredom if the delivery is not systematic, the potential for too literal understanding, and the limitations of measurable data. Overall, the Qashash method can be effectively applied to improve students' understanding in religious learning at the madrasah level.
