Peningkatan Keterampilan Membaca Siswa melalui Model Literasi Based Learning pada Pembelajaran Bahasa

Reading is a very important language skill because it plays a major role in determining students' academic success. One learning model that can improve reading skills is Literacy-Based Learning. This study aims to describe the steps, advantages, and disadvantages of applying the Literacy-Based Learning model in language learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Klaten. This study used a qualitative approach with language teachers as subjects, and data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the steps in implementing this model included the stages of contact, curiosity, elaboration, decision making, nexus, and assessment. The advantages of this model were that it created enjoyable learning, fostered enthusiasm for learning, empathy, and concern, and improved students' communication skills. However, its weaknesses lie in misperceptions of the concept of reading, lack of utilization of varied learning media, teaching materials that still focus on low order thinking, and limited school facilities and infrastructure. Overall, the Literacy-Based Learning model has proven to be effective in improving students' reading skills in language learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Klaten.
