The concept of usury adds complexity to transactions, affecting elements like
exchange agreements and individual behaviors in economic activities. Especially in
Indonesia, usury significantly influences the spending habits of Muslims, leading to a
culture characterized by excessive spending. This behavior not only lowers the value of
products but also gives creditors unfair advantages, enabling them to use forceful
methods in enforcing contracts. This investigation examines the effects of usury on the
purchasing habits of Indonesian Muslims, highlighting its role in promoting
extravagance, depreciating goods, and unfairly empowering creditors. By combining
theoretical analysis with a review of literature, the study elucidates the intricate
relationship between usury and consumer behavior within the Indonesian Muslim
community.
