Abstract

The implementation of the ISO 14001 standard in the textile industry is increasingly important in the context of sustainability and environmental management. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ISO 14001 implementation and the benefits and challenges faced by textile companies. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach, which involves analysing the current literature (2020-2024) related to the implementation of this standard. The results show that the implementation of ISO 14001 provides significant benefits, including waste reduction, efficient use of resources, and improved corporate image in the eyes of consumers. However, challenges such as supply chain complexity and limited resources were also identified as barriers to implementation. Environmental audits play an important role in ensuring compliance with the standard and assisting companies in making continuous improvements. This study concludes that despite the challenges, the implementation of ISO 14001 can improve the sustainability of the textile industry and give companies a competitive advantage. Therefore, collaboration between all relevant parties is necessary to support better sustainability practices in the sector.
