Abstract

Quality education serves as the fundamental pillar for a nation's advancement. In this context, teachers play a strategic role as the spearhead of educational implementation. This study aims to examine the various challenges faced in enhancing teacher professionalism in Indonesia and to propose strategic solutions to address them. The findings indicate that the main challenges to teacher professionalism include a complex curriculum, unequal access to education, misalignment between teacher placement and areas of expertise, as well as low levels of teacher welfare and quality. To address these challenges, the proposed solutions include equalizing access to education, improving teacher welfare, strengthening recruitment and training systems, and utilizing educational technology wisely. Therefore, improving teacher professionalism requires collaborative and continuous efforts from the government, society, and educational institutions in order to achieve high-quality and equitable education in Indonesia.
