Abstract

General elections are a real manifestation of democracy in Indonesia, where the people can directly channel their political aspirations and help determine the direction of the country's development. Through this mechanism, political power is in the hands of the people, thereby ensuring a government that is responsive to the needs and interests of the community. Elections in Indonesia not only function as a means to elect leaders and representatives of the people, but also as a concrete manifestation of popular sovereignty mandated in the 1945 Constitution. As a country with a large and diverse population, Indonesia faces unique challenges in holding democratic, transparent, elections. and diverse. and fair. In this context, democracy in Indonesia has continued to develop since the reform era, marked by the holding of direct elections which provided wider participation space for the community. However, elections also face various challenges, such as money politics and low voter participation. The democratic process in elections in Indonesia involves various elements, including election management institutions such as the KPU and Bawaslu, political parties, and civil society. The involvement of all parties shows that elections are not only a technical process, but also a reflection of the nation's political culture.
