Abstract

The ability to read the Qur’an is a fundamental competency in Islamic elementary education. However, many early-grade students still face difficulties in recognizing hijaiyah letters, pronouncing them accurately, and applying basic tajwid rules. The Yanbu’a method is a Qur’anic learning method designed systematically and progressively, emphasizing accuracy in pronunciation based on the Uthmani script. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Yanbu’a method in Qur’anic reading instruction, examine students’ reading abilities after its application, and describe teachers’ and students’ responses to the method. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, interviews, oral tests, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that the Yanbu’a method is implemented in a structured manner through classical and individual learning approaches. The application of this method improves students’ Qur’anic reading abilities, particularly in letter recognition, pronunciation accuracy, and reading fluency. Moreover, both teachers and students show positive responses toward the Yanbu’a method, considering it systematic, easy to apply, and suitable for early-grade learners. Therefore, the Yanbu’a method is effective in supporting Qur’anic reading instruction at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level.
