Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of elementary school students through the use of picture story media. The research was conducted using a classroom action research design consisting of two cycles, each including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 25 fourth-grade students at an elementary school in Indonesia. Data were collected through observation sheets, reading comprehension tests, and student response questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in students’ reading comprehension after implementing picture story media. Students became more motivated, focused, and actively engaged during the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of picture story media is effective in enhancing students’ reading comprehension skills in Bahasa Indonesia learning at the elementary school level.
