Abstract

This study aims to reveal the religious character education values contained in the book “Thariq bin Ziyad: Menaklukan Andalusia” written by Dr. Mahmud Syalabi. The book does not merely present a historical narrative of the conquest of Andalusia, but also illustrates the spiritual and moral dimensions embedded in the leadership of Thariq bin Ziyad. Using content analysis, this research focuses on an in-depth examination of the text to identify religious values reflected in the actions, principles of life, and leadership strategies of the central figure. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a library research design, utilizing the book as the primary data source supported by secondary literature. The findings indicate that the book contains several values of religious character education, including trust in God, sincerity, courage, discipline, empathy, and responsibility. These values are expressed through Thariq bin Ziyad’s decisions and conduct during his military leadership. The study further concludes that the religious character values presented in the book remain relevant to contemporary life, especially in addressing the current moral crisis among younger generations. Therefore, the book has the potential to serve as a character-building learning resource through exemplary figures, contributing to the strengthening of religious character education within families, schools, and society.
