PENGARUH EDUKASI TERHADAP TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN PRILAKU HIDUP BERSIH DAN SEHAT PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR: LITERATUR REVIEW

Numerous studies indicate that students’ limited understanding of PHBS remains a major challenge, as reflected in unhealthy habits such as consuming snacks indiscriminately, poor handwashing practices, and behaviors that do not support environmental health. This literature review aims to examine the effect of PHBS education on improving knowledge among school-aged children based on three studies employing a one-group pretest–posttest pre-experimental design.
The first study, conducted among students at SDN 104 Kendari (n = 42), reported an increase in the proportion of students with good knowledge from 42.9% to 69% after the intervention, with the paired t-test showing a p-value of less than 0.05. Another study involving school-aged children in the TPST Piyungan area of Yogyakarta (n = 50) also demonstrated an improvement in knowledge levels from 12% to 46%, supported by Wilcoxon test results with p = 0.000. Furthermore, the third study carried out with third-grade students at SDN Bakalan Krajan 2 Malang (n = 30) revealed an increase in the mean score from 53 (poor category) to 80 (good category), with a paired t-test result of p < 0.001.
Overall, the three studies consistently show that PHBS education delivered through video, leaflets, and visual presentations is effective in enhancing students’ understanding of healthy and clean living practices. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing continuous health education programs in schools and communities to foster healthy behaviors from an early age.
