Meningkatkan Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia yang Baik dan Benar di SD Negeri 004 Pelukahan, Kecamatan Kuantan Hilir Seberang, Kabupatan Kuantan Singingi

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the use of proper and correct Indonesian language among sixth-grade students at SDN 004 Pelukahan Village, Kuantan Hilir Seberang District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The program addressed the low proficiency in Indonesian language skills among students in this remote village, where daily communication is predominantly conducted in the local Kuantan dialect. The activity employed a participatory educational approach combining audiovisual media with collaborative active learning. Ten students were divided into two heterogeneous groups and engaged in six structured stages: (1) orientation through material presentation on four language skills (listening, speaking, writing, reading), (2) group formation, (3) observation through viewing an animated video titled "The Bear and the Honey Bee," (4) structured practice arranging picture sequences and writing descriptions, (5) group presentations, and (6) evaluation and reflection. Results showed that both groups successfully sequenced story images chronologically and presented their work confidently. However, both groups demonstrated weaknesses in writing mechanics, particularly spelling and punctuation. A significant finding revealed distinct learning styles, with Group A producing narrative descriptions and Group B employing dialogue-based narratives, confirming the importance of multimodal learning approaches. This program successfully enhanced students' listening, speaking, and sequencing skills while identifying areas requiring further development in writing proficiency. Recommendations include sustainable literacy programs, teacher training, and development of local culture-based learning materials.
