Abstract

The Lamban Pesagi Traditional House is a cultural heritage and legal identity of the indigenous people of Lampung. Lamban Pesagi is not only a traditional building, but also a symbol of customary law values. Therefore, this article analyzes the role of Sai Batin customary law, the traditional legal system of the people of West Lampung, in preserving Lamban Pesagi as an important cultural heritage. Amidst threats such as urbanization, external cultural influences, and the indifference of the younger generation, Sai Batin customary law, which includes customary rules, communal rituals, and social sanctions, functions as an effective protective mechanism. This study uses a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, historical document analysis, and field observations to explore the evolution of customary law. The results of the analysis show that Saibatin customary law not only preserves spiritual values and traditional house architecture but also promotes cultural awareness through modern programs and government cooperation, despite the challenges posed by globalization. It is hoped that there will be synergy between tradition and contemporary policies to ensure the preservation of West Lampung's cultural heritage, as well as provide implications that can be applied in other regions of Indonesia.
