Analisis Operasional Sistem Eksitasi pada Generator Sinkron 200 MW di UBP Pangkalan Susu

This study was conducted to comprehensively analyze the operational behavior of the excitation system on a 200 MW Synchronous Generator Unit 2 at PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Pangkalan Susu, aiming to address the lack of studies based on actual field data in large power generation units. The objective is to examine the relationship between excitation current with active power, reactive power, and terminal voltage, and to evaluate the performance of the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). The research method employs a descriptive approach using actual operational data collected from Unit 2, including field observations and documentation of if, P, Q, S and Vt data. The results show that the static excitation system used, with the digital AVR GEC-300 control, operates with high stability. The AVR is proven capable of maintaining the terminal voltage at its nominal value 15.74-15.75 kV with very minimal fluctuations ±0.01 kV under varying load conditions. A strong and sensitive correlation was found between and Reactive Power, and a positive trend with Active Power, consistent with synchronous generator theory. The conclusion is that the excitation system functions effectively, reliably, and positively contributes to the stability of the power system.
