Abstract

Digital literacy has become an important competence for university students writing academic papers, particularly in the final semester when they prepare articles, research proposals, or undergraduate theses. Digital literacy involves more than operating devices; it also includes searching for information, evaluating source credibility, managing references, composing texts, and using technology ethically. This article examines how digital literacy supports the academic writing skills of eighth-semester students through a literature review. A narrative literature review was conducted by examining relevant journal articles available online. Sources were selected based on topical relevance, their connection to higher education students, and the availability of bibliographic information and accessible abstracts or full texts. The review indicates that digital literacy supports writing through access to scholarly sources, information evaluation, the use of word-processing and reference-management applications, and more efficient revision. These benefits, however, require critical thinking, knowledge of academic conventions, and ethical technology use, including the use of artificial intelligence. Therefore, digital literacy development should be integrated with reading habits, writing practice, lecturer guidance, and academic integrity.
