Peningkatan Pemahaman Konsep Denah melalui Media Diorama pada Siswa Kelas III

Abstract

Third-grade students’ understanding of floor plan concepts, particularly direction and position, remained low because instruction relied on lectures and textbooks that present abstract content. At baseline, the mean score was only 63.2, with a mastery rate of 4%. This study aimed to improve students’ understanding of floor plan concepts and learning outcomes through the use of diorama media. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, acting, observing, and reflecting, involving 25 third-grade students at SD Negeri 101875 Bintang Meriah in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The study was considered successful if the mean score reached at least 70 and classical mastery reached at least 80% (minimum mastery criterion of 75). The mean score increased from 63.2 (pre-cycle) to 72.4 (cycle I) and 84.0 (cycle II). Classical mastery rose from 4% (1 student) to 64% (16 students) in cycle I, and 92% (23 students) in cycle II. Diorama media effectively improved third-grade students’ understanding of floor plan concepts and learning outcomes, and met the study’s success indicators.
