MENIKAH MUDA DI DALAM ISLAM : HIKMAH, SYARAT DAN REALITA

Abstract

Early marriage is a phenomenon that frequently occurs in society, driven by cultural, economic, and religious factors. From the Islamic perspective, marrying at a young age is not prohibited as long as the essential requirements are met, including reaching puberty, the presence of a guardian (wali), mutual consent (ijab qabul), and the ability to fulfill marital responsibilities. Islam views marriage as an act of worship and a means to preserve one’s chastity from immoral behavior. The decision to marry young holds several wisdoms, such as protecting one’s dignity, fostering a peaceful household from an early age, and providing the opportunity for couples to grow and mature together. However, in reality, early marriages often face serious challenges, including emotional immaturity, economic instability, and a higher risk of divorce. This study summarizes findings from various academic journals regarding early marriage in Islam, comparing the ideal teachings of the religion with the actual social conditions. The goal is to offer a balanced and comprehensive understanding for youth and policymakers in addressing the issue of early marriage.
