This research examines the implementation of broadcasting regulations in Indonesia and the role of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) as an independent supervisory institution in the national broadcasting industry. Using normative juridical research methods, this study analyzes the legal framework that regulates the broadcasting sector, especially Law no. 32 of 2002 concerning Broadcasting and Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, as well as the implementation of the Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards (P3SPS). The research results show that even though a comprehensive regulatory framework is available, the broadcasting industry still faces various challenges, especially related to the excessive profit orientation of broadcasting institutions which often ignore the quality and social impact of broadcast programs. The effectiveness of the administrative sanctions given by KPI is also not optimal in providing a deterrent effect, as evidenced by the increasing number of repeated violations by television stations. This research recommends the need to strengthen coordination between stakeholders, increase public media literacy, develop a technology-based monitoring system, as well as commitment from broadcasting institutions to balance business interests with social responsibility. It is hoped that the implementation of these recommendations can create a healthy national broadcasting system and contribute positively to character development and the welfare of the Indonesian people.
